How the Deadlift Max Calculator Works

A deadlift calculator takes the weight you pulled, the number of reps you completed, and applies a formula that extrapolates to a single maximum rep. The logic is simple: the more reps you do with a given weight, the lighter that weight is relative to your true max deadlift, so the higher the estimate climbs. Deadlift Variations: Conventional, Sumo, Trap Bar, and Romanian

Grip, Belt, and Equipment

A double-overhand grip is the classic limiting factor on the deadlift: on heavy pulls the hands let go before the back does, and the set ends not because the lift failed but because the grip failed. If that happens to you, the fix is coaching, not math. Switch to a mixed (alternate) or hook grip for max attempts, or use straps for higher-rep working sets, and the calculator's output stays exactly the same - it never adds or subtracts a phantom percentage for grip style.

A belt is equipment, not a variable. Some lifters brace harder and pull a little more with one; others find it gets in the way.
